2022 Hall of Fame Inductee: Lauren Crandall Liska

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Throughout the spring, USA Field Hockey will be celebrating and honoring the 2022 Hall of Fame Inductees prior to the 100th Anniversary and Hall of Fame Celebration, hosted by the U.S. Field Hockey Foundation.

A three-time Olympian and captain of Team USA, Lauren Crandall Liska was first named to the U.S. Women’s National Team in 2005. She is undoubtedly one of the most accomplished athletes of her era. A defensive stalwart from Doylestown, Pa., she is the youngest of four children. As a young child, Lauren just wanted to be part of the family team and play with her older siblings and their friends. So she always put herself into competitions against her siblings, because if she wanted to play with them, or be involved, she had to be good enough. That competitive drive eventually led to her prowess on the world stage and a storied career as one of the best in women’s field hockey history.

Lauren was a member of Team USA for the Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games. She served as captain from 2012 to 2016, including the 2012 Olympic, 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic Teams. Lauren led the team from a twelfth-place finish at the London Olympic Games to being ranked fifth in the world in 2016 and a fifth-place finish in Rio. She retired from the U.S. Women’s National Team a few months after competing in her final Olympic Games having played in 279 international caps. Upon her retirement former head coach Craig Parnham praised Lauren as an “international powerhouse.”

Lauren currently serves on the USA Field Hockey Board of Directors as an athlete representative. Her contributions to the game and to USA Field Hockey are immense. Her play and leadership inspired and continues to inspire countless young players.
